Integrations

Milkywire integrations product enables you to make donations directly from your platform either on behalf of your customers or as a corporate donation. The donations are sent to Milkywire through an API and processed at the end of each month.

How it works​

Integrating with Milkywire is done through Milkywire's partner API. The partner API makes it possible to create donations to Milkywire through API calls. At the end of each month, Milkywire will send a payment instruction for all the donations made through the API.

Partner account​

You will need access to our partner portal to manage your integration. You can gain access by reaching out to us at partner@milkywire.com.

Configuration​

Each integration has a configuration to set a name and select causes you want to support. A cause is a collection of organizations working within the same area. Each donation created through the integration will then be directed to the cause you selected in the configuration.

Create an integration​

Before you can create donations through our API you need to create and configure an integration. An integration is used for grouping the donations that you create and will also be used as a basis for returning donation statistics back to you. You will select at least one Milkywire cause to receive all donations created in our systems. It is possible to edit the cause selection later on or even override it for individual donations if needed.

1. Log in to the partner portal​

Log in to the partner portal and navigate to the integrations page.

2. Create a new integration​

Create a new integration by clicking Create new, entering a name, and selecting the causes you want to support.

The cause selection will be the default destination for all donations made through the API. However, it is possible to override the cause selection by sending a new cause ID in the API request to direct the customer's donation to another cause.
